Piano Preludes Consortium
OVERVIEW
Hello! I am excited to announce I am starting a consortium for 24 piano preludes. Each prelude is written to have a unique character and the progression from piece to piece is structured to introduce intermediate players to more and more advanced concepts. They will be roughly 1-3 minutes each, totaling 30+ minutes of music.
The preludes will be finished and delivered in January 2027.
Dr. Sanford is a faculty member and Administrative Manager at The New School for Music Study in Kingston, NJ. She teaches private lessons and group classes for piano students of all ages and levels, and she performs as an NSMS faculty member in community recitals and lecture recitals around the Princeton area. She earned her DMA from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) in 2024.
Dr. Sanford specializes in contemporary and American music; her most recent projects include presentations on interpreting Charles Ives’ “Concord” Sonata, solo piano transcriptions and lecture recitals of John Williams’ film music, and a CD album premiering several of Allen Sapp’s piano works. Her recital programs often include creative pairings of well-known and unknown repertoire.
When she is not at the piano, Dr. Sanford works on music editing, mixing, mastering, and audio restoration for film scores, instrumental works, and private recordings. She is now helping to run the NSMS Silent Film Celebration.
